The setup of the month: Schwalbe Nobby Nic / Schwalbe Rocket Ron

In April, ideal riding conditions will soon be upon us, but are not there yet!   We decided to highlight a versatile tyre setup that is particularly well adapted to the prevailing conditions, which are sometimes dry and compact and sometimes wet (even muddy) and loose. This tyre setup is suited to everything from XC to All-Mountain, and is perfect for getting the old legs going again in early spring!   Here are the selected models:   • The Schwalbe Nobby Nic, in the Pacestar version – Snakeskin …

Here are the selected models:

• The Schwalbe Nobby Nic, in the Pacestar version – Snakeskin – Tubeless Easy

• The Schwalbe Rocket Ron, in the Pacestar version – Snakeskin – Tubeless Easy

Why we chose these models:

• Schwalbe Nobby Nic for the front wheel

The Nobby Nic has always been the most versatile tyre in the Schwalbe range, because of its very attractive profile!
With this tyre, you can ride in a wide range of weather conditions, but also on different types of terrain. The centre lugs provide very good rolling qualities on hard and compact terrain, and result in a very good performance.
The side lugs are quite high and pronounced, providing impressive grip in bends. Braking also proves to be very effective!
The Nobby Nic’s favourite terrain is:
• mixed terrain: earth, stones, roots in potentially tricky conditions
• loose terrain: unstable soil, sand, gravel
• wet terrain
In fact, the spacing between the lugs means the tyre can evacuate mud quite easily!

The new Snakeskin Tubeless Easy tyre casing combines more reinforcement on the sides than in previous models (Snakeskin Tubeless Ready), and reduced weight, providing an efficient, solid and light tyre. This new tyre casing also makes sealing easier and faster for your Tubeless tyre.

• Schwalbe Rocket Ron:

The Rocket Ron is a tyre that has proved all its value in many different conditions.
It has a highly versatile profile and can be used in a wide range of terrain. Its lugs are quite widely spaced to eliminate mud in wet conditions, but there are also enough of them to provide good traction during climbs and strong grip in downhill riding.

In short:

A really versatile tyre combination!
For a tough XC, XC Marathon or an All-Mountain race, these tyres can be used in a range of conditions, without you ever having to ask yourself the recurrent question: « Will they hold up?! »
This tyre combination may be versatile, but it is no less effective, on the contrary! The more pronounced and higher profile of the Nobby Nic provides indispensable grip and braking power so that you don’t have to brake during stony sections and descents, and the rolling aspect of the Rocket Ron provides great performance and good traction on climbs.

Here are the details of the tyre combinations, according to the wheel diameter:
• 26”:
- Schwalbe Nobby Nic Pacestar – Snakeskin – Tubeless Easy, size 26 x 2.25 (ETRTO: 57-559), for the front wheel
- Schwalbe Rocket Ron Pacestar – Snakeskin – Tubeless Easy, size 26 x 2.10 (ETRTO: 54-559), for the rear

• 27.5”:
- Schwalbe Nobby Nic Pacestar – Snakeskin – Tubeless Easy, size 27.5 x 2.25 (ETRTO: 57-584), for the front wheel
- Schwalbe Rocket Ron Pacestar – Snakeskin – Tubeless Easy, size 27.5 x 2.10 (ETRTO: 54-584), for the rear

• 29”:
- Schwalbe Nobby Nic Pacestar – Snakeskin – Tubeless Easy, size 29 x 2.25 (ETRTO: 57-622), for the front wheel
- Schwalbe Rocket Ron Pacestar – Snakeskin – Tubeless Easy, size 29 x 2.25 (ETRTO : 57-622), for the rear – once checked, the Rocket Ron turns out to have a lower ETRTO than the one given in the manufacturers’ specifications. The real ETRTO is 51 mm wide for the 2.25 thickness on the 29 inch-tyre.
